We've been working on the bar!
I haven’t said much about the bar in St. Roch Market thus far. You might know me, Kevin Pedeaux from CR Coffee Shop. In addition to the coffee shop I also supply coffee places around town and create different coffee blends. Beverage flavors are what I do, but I’ve never done alcohol before. Going from the high energy coffee shop to the mellow vibes of a bar has been a fun challenge to switch it up.
I’m ready now to start talking about the bar. You’ll continue to see changes coming over time, but now you’re able see my long term vision for it with the things we have ready to roll.
We’ve named the bar Roch’s Reprieve. St. Roch was, among other things, the patron saint of the wrongfully accused. So, henceforth, a reprieve. Of course it’s playing on taking a break, or a reprieve, from your normal life with a nice beverage.
My focus for Roch’s Reprieve is to make it a valuable addition to St. Roch Market. The headline of St. Roch Market has always been on the diverse range of vendors and their incredible culinary offerings. My aim is to ensure that the bar serves as a supportive player.
At Roch's Reprieve, we're focused on creating great drinks; AND thought-out companions to your meals. Each choice in our selection is crafted with care, aimed not only at making a great drink, but also at enhancing the whole food experience.
You’ll find Roch’s Reprieve to be a little bit of everything. We’re planning on having beverages all up and down the price ladder. Great everyday specials, and really nice liquors and wine for when you’re celebrating.
Here are some things to look forward to:
Drink Specials
To check out some of the specials at the bar, and around the whole market, check out the Happenings page here for more info, but for some bullet points.
We’ve got an amazing “Happiest Hour” deal. It’s one hour on weekdays from 3-4. $4 beer and a shot or $4 glasses of wine.
We also have our old Happy Hour deal from 4-6.
And we have $5 Bloody Marys and Mimosas on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for brunch till 3pm with a food purchase from the vendors. We’ve got more on the Happenings page and more coming soon.
Cocktails
Roch’s Reprieve is a great place for all those New Orleans classic cocktails. A $7 happy hour Sazerac is quite the treat. We’re also working on a specialty cocktail list with each vendor. So you’ll be able to get a drink that is what the vendor would like next to their food. It’s going to be great and unique. For example Tung at Slow and Pho really likes tropical fruit beverages next to his foods, so we’re working on a Tropical Pimms Cup.
Wine List
Wine's a lot like coffee - it's all in the blend. There are a lot of great wines, but WHY are these great wines HERE? I’ve been working with the market vendors and the liquor sales reps in town to find great pairing matches with the food. As a newbie to wine lists, but not to flavors, I've got fresh eyes and big plans. It's all about the perfect pairing - wine, food, and atmosphere.
We’re just getting started with Roch’s Reprieve. We’ve rolled out our first wine menu and new wines are out now. Come by grab a bottle and enjoy a curated experience. I want Roch’s Reprieve to really add to the food experience at St. Roch Market. We’re well on our way to achieving it.
Meet me at St. Roch,
Kevin Pedeaux
