Meet the Dynamic Duo Behind Junkanoo Cafe!
Hey all,
I’m excited to introduce you to Junkanoo Cafe, a vibrant new addition to St. Roch Market, and the first authentic Bahamian restaurant in New Orleans! For the past three years, Derrica Williamson-Lyons and her partner, Joi Warner, have been spreading island flavor and culture all across the city. From small events to street vending, Derrica has been serving up crowd-pleasers like tacos, rasta pasta, and fritters—always with Joi cheering her on and bringing the community together. Now, their passion and hard work have brought them to the Market, and they’re ready to share their incredible dishes here.
At Junkanoo Cafe, Derrica and Joi make a dream team. Derrica is the creative force in the kitchen, crafting a menu packed with bold Bahamian dishes and Caribbean-inspired flavors, while Joi keeps the front of the house running smoothly, making sure every customer feels welcome. Whether you’re diving into Peas Soup N’ Doh, savoring their Honey Jerk Wings, or treating yourself to the must-try Fritter Waffles.
Here’s a little taste of what you can expect:
Rasta Pasta: A creamy, flavorful pasta dish that’ll have you coming back for seconds.
Guava Duff: A Bahamian dessert classic, rich with guava flavor and pure island vibes.
And don’t forget their amazing lineup of drinks like Ginger Lemonade, Passion Fruit Lemonade, and the signature Junkanoo Punch.
Derrica and Joi have poured their hearts into this venture, and it shows in every bite. So, stop by Junkanoo Cafe at St. Roch Market to experience the bold, authentic flavors of the Bahamas right here in New Orleans. Whether you’re craving savory jerk chicken, flavorful conch, or a sweet slice of Bahamian culture, Derrica and Joi have you covered.
